Fund Raising idea

Hey I saw the upcoming event for fundraising at Two Fathoms and it sounds awesome. I know there will be live demos and thought I saw there would be auctions as well, but can’t seem to find that link right now. Will you be requesting donations of items folks have made to sell during this event? And if not at this event, perhaps at another?

I’ve seen other groups do similar things. My pottery instructor participated in “Pots for the People” in Chicago this fall to raise funds for a cause. Artists donated seconds (still good quality) mugs and they held a sale.

(It took me a while to post because unbeknownst to me it was sitting in Draft mode for a few days.)

Thanks Ann! Adding @AstroDocCarl @sesmith08 and @MaraJames to the conversation (who are heading up the Gala committee).

The plan is to have a silent auction that runs for about a week before the event. (I’ve still got to finalize what tool we’re using for the silent auction, which is why we don’t have a link yet.) I think they have a plan about how they’re getting donations, but I’ll let them chime in.

Love the idea of artist donated items, and the unique, not-quite-the-best mugs seems like a cool fundraiser they were running in Chicago!

Hello Ann,

Thanks for reaching out! Like Mark said, we plan to open the Silent Auction a bit before the fundraiser (a week before if all goes as planned), and will complete the silent auction at the event. If you or anyone in your network are interested in donating to the silent auction, we would need your items by Friday, October 24th.

We are also looking for one ceramics artist demonstration if you or another potter you know are interested in attending the event. It wouldn’t be to sell your work, but rather to show what you do to the fundraiser attendees. You would be more than welcome to have business cards and description of your craft/business. We will pay that artist a $100 stipend for the event. Are you interested in doing a demo, Ann?

Thanks so much for the offer, but I currently work in a community pottery studio in La Crosse and do not own a pottery wheel nor would be able to get one toTwo Fathoms to demonstrate wheel throwing. There would both other logistic pieces tied to that as well and I’m just not set up for that.
