Individual Private Meeting Space (Privacy Pod / Office Phone Booth)

I’m interested in ideas on ways to take private meetings when someone happens to be at the makerspace. This might be because they use it as a coworking space and have calls where they need privacy or just want to be able to take a quick personal call while doing something at the makerspace.

The solution should avoid the person being disturbed, offer good sound isolation (adequate to prevent a passerby from making out words, not be totally silent), be comfortable (ventilation if a small space), have sufficient space for a laptop with a webcam, and make it easy to see if the space is occupied.

Barring another solution popping up, eventually I might try prototyping a cheap solution, creating a small as possible box with a powered fan, shelf, door (with some acrylic to see if someone is inside) and soundproofing material. Super rough idea:

Getting a meeting pod / phonebooth is high on my list, but I haven’t found any that are less than $4k. And shockingly, not finding any used ones out there!

I do love the idea of building one, because you’re right - they’re not technically complex. Curious what other people think. We’re behind on building workbenches, not sure how quick we can get something constructed.

Until then, I’m thinking we put a small table in office #105 and let that be our temporary private meeting room.

I agree on setting up something temporary immediately, but i also vote for in house build…

Just so I can volunteer to attach the outside molding, paint it London-blue, and then appropriately decorate the interior of our very own Tardis… please :folded_hands:!?
