Locker Shelf Project

Just sharing a little project to make some freestanding shelves for my makerspace locker.

Value shelves for $2.99 (or $0.99 on sale) (qty 1)

1/2" x 1 1/4" x 8’ boards (qty 2)

I cut up the boards and glued them into thin frames for each side. I designed a simple 3d printed cap that connects each frame to prevent them from falling in, then cut the shelf into three sections.

Things used: Tinkercad (design printed cap), Cura (Slicing software to prepare 3d part for printing), Ender-3 Max (printer big enough to print part), tape measure, miter saw, jigsaw, wood glue, clamps

If I designed it again, I’d probably make the frames shallower so they matched the depth of the shelves, then use something like dowels or shelf pins to hold the shelves up instead of the the three fixed position wood supports for greater adjustability. With some effort someone could probably make the wood frames for cheaper also.
