While we work on getting more programming around the makerspace, there are still many times the place is quiet. Are there any social things people would be interested in doing at or around the makerspace?

Maybe some kind of maker-oriented book club / discussion group?
It would also be fun to see the various projects people are working on (or plan to work on) – we could have some kind of show and tell event?
Maybe some kind of stitch and bitch type nights like no name hosts? (Sounds so much more fun than a sewing circle)
I am actually looking for a space to host a Girl Scout try it/ sign up night. I bring all my own programming/materials, just need a space to host it.
Maybe host game nights, at least one member must “host” (be in attendance), but the rest could be visitors, might bring in more people to check out the space.

@erik I do think a regular event to show off what you’re working on would be fascinating. Asmbly in Austin does a quarterly “Maker Showcase” that looks fun, though might be a little more formal than we need at first. Video: https://www.facebook.com/share/r/1DSfu4FPGs/
And @Kschneider let’s talk, because you can reserve the conference room as a member for events like that. Might be able to arrange a bigger space like the Assembly room if you need. But game nights, specific craft nights (I’m trying to convince Kelley to host a tye-dye jam in Fibers) all sound like great ideas. We just got to find a couple people are passionate about running!
Jon and I have been discussing putting the extra TV we have in the break room. We could gather around our favorite shows, play trivia, things like that. Or, if there are fans of certain sports, we could stream those instead of going to bars.
*Side note: He did pick up a toaster for the break room.

You can definitely tell they had one mounted on the far wall of the break room, with power on the wall and an HDMI cable run up and over to the rack. Let’s chat before you put it in there, but that could be a nice addition to the space!
Related, I do have a donated Samsung TV that I’ve bought a mobile cart for, so we can move it from room to room for classes and events

Sure! I’ll figure out which one it is we have that’s extra. We have a rolling stand for one in my gym and I love being able to move it around. Super handy.
All these ideas are great! I’d love to join a knitting circle too. (As a newbie, I’ve started and never finished a few projects…)
